Casino chip gambling online poker

Casino Poker chips, the Gambling Poker chips, Casino Tokens, Checks or Cheques are a special type of depictions of certain fixed amount of money. A 'chip' has no value as such while ‘cheque' holds a specific value. The chips cannot be en-cashed for money while the cheques can be.

There are various types of chips used in the gambling industry: the plastic chips and the metal tokens. The plastic chips are mostly used at the table games while the metal coins are used in the slot machines. They differ in material, color and sizes. The casinos sometimes use a rectangular type of chips also know as Plaques for higher bets (exceeding $25,000). The chips are often exchanged for money at the counter or the table. Chips don’t have any value outside the casino premises.

The main cause of introducing the chips is to avoid theft. It was also to regularize or for uniformity of denomination used inside the casinos. It is better and easier to count the chips in stacks as they have same color code and size.

The casino plastic chips are made up of mostly clay with a paper on top (called as an inlay) and a plastic coat on it. This is then compressed to form the regular chip that the casinos use. The chips that the slot machines use are mostly made up of metal.

Chip Denomination:

Sometimes the casinos have same color code in a certain geographical area to understand the conventions. Some of the color codes used:

White represents $1, Pink represents $2.50. Also there are some other chips of different denomination: Red for $5, Blue for $10, Yellow for $20, Green for $25, Black for $100, Purple for $500, Orange for $1,000, Gray for $5,000, Numbered plaque for $10,000. Some of these types of chips are used at certain games and not all.

History:

The casino chips were introduced as a result of the ban on circulation of silver coins in mid 1900s. The Casinos had to find a solution as the slot machines used a particular type of coins having fixed size only. So different type of coins were brought up into the gaming industry so as to compensate for the chips.
