The present state of Internet gambling:
The Internet has marked a drastic change in the
landscape of our planet. Thousands of miles are the mere
click of a mouse and practically any information or
entertainment that is desired is at the fingertips.
This has resulted in many areas of the law being
re-thought or re-developed; while other new issues
emerge that defy all remotely related
regulations. Internet gambling popularly known by the
name of online gambling is one of those areas in which
the laws have lagged behind the technology, and are
still in need of an overdue update, along with an
official chosen course of action toward bans or
regulation. However the present state of online gambling
can be described as nothing short of a mess. Only the
matter of sport betting has been the major portion that
too only within the territories of the United States
that has been truly addressed. As of now the most
important issue that is yet to be handled are the
remaining forms of gambling.
The future of Internet gambling:
Gambling through the net has been lucrative due to
features like easy access, ease of use, and the
convenience of placing wagers from the comfort of one’s
home. So far
Internet gambling has been a controversial topic and
an issue of debate. In order to decide the fate of
online gambling the first which needs to be done is to
decide whether it is to be regulated and controlled.
Considering the present scenario of online gambling we
can only say that the future of Internet gambling is
anything but set in stone. There are many opponents of
Internet gambling who point out to the much possible
harm that already do, and will continue to, flow from
its existence. Even if a regulation or an all out ban
seems ideal, on the other hand the proponents argue that
due to the nature of the internet and the gambling
industry, any attempts at regulation will have a minor
impact. As far as the concern of its legality goes, due
to the complexity and the continuing evolution of the
Internet all the legal issues surrounding online
gambling are intricate and still on the process of
development.
