The most common type of wager in sports handicapping is
a straight wager, which is simply a single result from
one game. You will usually have a favorite and an
underdog. The favorite usually gives up points, which is
also known as a spread.

This is where the better places a wager on an outcome of
one game, and then places a wager on the outcome of
another game, after the first game. You are allowed to
put an amount up to the original amount of the bet of
the first game, on to the second game afterwards.
