Today we found no more traditional way of gambling. With the advent of science and technology the concept of gambling also changes. Traditionally gambler gambled with card or dices. Now in casinos machine are use for gambling. The machine use in casinos is called slot machine. Distribution of cards, shuffling of cards has done by the machine.

What is Slot Machine?

A slot machine is basically a coin operated machine. In a slot machine three or more reels are there, which spin when a lever on the side of the machine is pulled. The machine also equipped with a currency detector which validated the coins or money inserted to it. The machine typically pays off based on patterns of symbols visible on the front of the machine when it stops. Modern computer technology has resulted in many variations on the slot machine concept. In present gambling world slot machine is the most essential gambling equipment for casinos.

Development of Slot Machine:

There were two minds behind the development of slot machine. Mr. Sittman and Mr. Pitt developed a slot machine in year 1891 which could be considered as the precursor of modern slot machine. This machine acquired a remarkable popularity in a short time. First fully automated electronic slot machine was developed by Mr. Bally in 1964. 

Now we find different kind of slot machine in different casinos. Some of those most popular are video poker machine. There are some standard 5 cards draw machines also. Today the most popular machines are the 9line slots.

Playing on Slot Machine:

In order to play on a slot machine, the player has to put coin or cash in the machine into a designated slot on the machine. The machine is then activated by means of a lever or button, or on newer machines, by pressing a touch screen on its face. The object of the game is to win money from the machine. The game usually involves matching symbols, either on mechanical reels that spin and stop to reveal one or several symbols, or on a video screen.

Technology used in Poker Machine:

Technology uses in different slot machines are different. There are certain technology which are generally use in today’s popular slot machine such as random number generator, payout percentage, link machine and near-miss programming.
