Internet gambling refers to online gambling.
Traditionally gambling was confine with casino and home
only. After the advent of Internet, gambling community
also welcome this new invention of science. When a
gambler playing online that means he is connected to a
game server via Internet. In Internet gambling though
gambler is playing with a site but he can’t make a bet
with the site. He bets with the other people playing
through that site.
Popularity of Internet Gambling:
Today Internet gambling is one of the most popular ways
of gambling. The main reasons for the increasing
popularity of Internet gambling are such easy way of
playing, no need to go to casino, one can play through
out the world from home, no geographical limitation.
How Gambling play through Internet:
On
the basis of interface online gambling can be divided
into three categories such as
web-based casinos, download-based casinos, and more
recently live casinos
Web-based casino:
In web-based online casino, the player need not have to
download the software to the local computer. Player can
play it directly through web site.
Down-load based casino:
Here player have to download the software to the local
computer in order to play the game.
Live-based casinos:
Live-based casino gaming is a way to interface with a
real world casino while playing online. With live gaming
players can see, hear, and interact with live dealers at
tables in brick and mortar casinos worldwide.
How much Internet Gambling is faithful to Gambler:
Though Internet gambling
become a very popular yet there are so many confusion
regarding the player’s safety. In online gambling
players are not sure that whether they get back their
money or not. Gambling software is also another concern
of player safety. Generally software is programmed in
favor of owner only. So gambler’s security is still a
big question in Internet gambling.
Internet Gambling: Its Negative Aspects:
Today no one can deny the increasing popularity of
Internet gambling
and of course nobody have any doubt over its negative
aspects. Internet gambling is not free from some harmful
aspects towards society such as
(a) The potential for
fraud over the Internet; (b) children’s access to
gambling sites; (c) an increase in gambling addictions;
and (d) the need to preserve state revenues generated
from legally enforced (and state-run) gambling
operations.
Legal issue:
The legal situation for online poker gambling still in
the state of confusion everywhere in the world. The
whole legal issue is ambiguous both in state and federal
level of USA. Most of the cardroom sites are operated
from the Caribbean, Central America or the Mohawk
Territory of Kahnawake in Canada. Existing laws tend to
target illegal gambling operators rather than the
players, but since the online operators are out of reach
there is political pressure to modify this approach. In
the U.S., several federal bills have been proposed that
regulate or forbid online wagers. On the other hand, in
the U.K. the government has been moving in the direction
of legalization and regulation.
