Introduction –
With the rising popularity of the golf game over the
years, there also has been a rise in the gambling in the
golf game. Golf and gambling go hand in hand for many
golf lovers. Golfers go for any amount, small or large,
in golf gambling.
Some of the most popular Golf Betting Games and Side
Bets –
1.
Nassau – It is a game of three bets in one – low score
on the front nine, low score on the back nine and low
score over the full 18. The most common bet among the
golfers is perhaps the $2 Nassau.
2.
Round Robin – Also known as Hollywood or Sixes, it is a
game of betting for groups of four people where 2
members team up against the other two and the partners
rotate every six holes.
3.
Sandies – A Game having a set value throughout the round
and depending on the rules of the game, the player wins
either by making par on a hole in which he was in a sand
trap or by getting up and down from a greenside bunker.
4.
Bingo Bango Bongo – Points are awarded throughout the
rounds for three accomplishments and in the end points
are added and differences are paid out.
5.
Barkies – Also called Woodies or Seves, a player making
par on a hole in which he hits a tree is paid Barkies,
where its value is determined before the round begins.
6.
Wolf – A classic
golf betting game for a group of four people is a
bit complicated. The player designated as ‘Wolf’
chooses whether to play 1 against 3, or 2 on 2, and then
has to choose a partner. A Wolf can win or lose more
money even by playing alone.
7. Arnies – A game of side bets named after Arnold Palmer,
whose values are determined before the round and are won
by a golfer making a par without getting his ball into
the fairway.
8. Aces and Dueces – This betting game also called Acey
Ducey is for groups of four people and has a winner, two
modest losers and one big loser on every hole. The high
scorer on each hole owes to the other three and the low
scorer on each hole wins a certain amount from the other
three.
9. Gruesomes – Is a betting game having 2-person teams
playing against each other. Both team members tee off
and the other teams can choose which of the drives their
side would play. They choose the worst or most gruesome
of the two drives.
10.
Criers and Whiners – Known by different names, this game
is for the players who keep crying and whining for those
few screwed up shots.
