Bahamas Gambling

by Jerry "Jet" Whittaker

February 19, 2006

Bahamas is the place to be if you want to make a few thousand dollars in one night, or dance the night away, or just want to show off your newly acquired bronze tan - the Bahamas nightlife will offer you more then a few places to do it.

The Bahamas gambling has four large casinos; two on New Providence, one at Cable Beach and the other on Paradise Island, and the other two on Grand Bahama: one in Freeport and the other in Lucaya.

It must be known to you that gambling is legal in the Bahamas and the gambling age is 18 and above. Gambling is legal for everybody except Bahamians. Bahamians who are caught gambling are subject to fines of up to $500. Contrary to this, tourists who are caught gambling are rewarded with a complimentary drink. The casinos sport a wide variety of games, including roulette, black-jack, baccarat, dice, slot machines, the wheel of fortune and the 'big six' to name a few. Those who don't trust their luck and don’t want to gamble, the casinos also offer entertainment shows.

Casinos in Bahamas:

Atlantis Casino, Paradise Island: Atlantis Casino could be the eighth wonder of the world. Atlantis Casino titled after the fabled world beneath the sea is the biggest, brashest, and most elegant casino at Bahamas. At Atlantis, the high rollers from all over the world take their chances to get lucky right along little old ladies from Peoria. Available here are various kinds of slots, craps, roulette, numerous variations of blackjack and several specialty games. The lounges here have live entertainment.

Crystal Palace Casino, Cable Beach: Wyndham Nassau's Crystal Palace Casino can be mistaken as a casino in Vegas. The Crystal Palace Casino is one of the largest gaming establishments on the island. It features over 750 slot machines, 51 blackjack tables, 9 roulette wheels, and 7 crap tables. For the high stakes gambler, a baccarat room is also available.

The Casino at Bahamia, Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

Our Lucaya, Freeport/Lucaya, Grand Bahama Island: It has a stylish resort complex featuring elegantly decorated rooms, fine restaurants, and a tropical style casino. Also available are live shows and entertainment in the Casino Cabaret.

Persons not permitted to gamble in the Bahamas:

1. Persons under 18 years of age.

2. Holders of work permits and their dependents.

3. Residents and their dependents.

4. Nationals of Bahamas (however they gamble illegally elsewhere).

5. Persons who have applied for residency or work permits and their dependents.

6. Anyone gainfully employed in Bahamas.
