First and most important, learning to play poker well is a process. The first time anyone plays will stink, because they do not know all the rules. People who are prone to just give up at their first failure make poor poker players. One must be able to handle losing. And then one must have a desire to get better at the game. Simply playing should not be the end goal. Improving at a game that has choices is a big part of the pleasure of the game itself. Playing free online poker gambling seems pointless on the surface. Except when play money can be turned in for promotional stuff, winning or losing play money makes zero difference. But if someone trying to get better, then do not play for money. Simply play to learn.

Learn before playing online:

Online play money games are wholly different for real money games. They are like implied odds. New players should play them exclusively to learn how to play better, including controlling emotions, analysis player betting patterns, and test stamina. The point of the game should not be to gather play money chips. The point should be to help learn how to accumulate real money chips. While the play money games have clear limitations, they can tell a new player quite a lot. If one cannot beat the play money games, then the person will not be able to beat real money game. This is an important thing to understand someone is new.

The essential lesson a new player needs to learn is, how to beat a poker game. The details of how to do that vary. Beating play money games is similar to beating very low limit games, but not all that alike. But it is not the actual skill in beating the play games that is important. It is just the process of figuring out how to do it and how to beat whatever style is of the game. Poker is assembling a puzzle from the pieces one manages to gather together. The actual pieces do not matter, and will vary and change and never be the same.
