phenomenon in the modern times. Gambling has both the
positive and negative consequences. Gambling refers to
wagering money on the outcome of a particular event
which is uncertain.
Positive aspect of
gambling
Gambling is very
entertaining; people involved in it enjoy a lot.
Gambling provides more employment opportunities to the
society. Government earns a lot of revenue from
gambling, which can be used towards the advancement of
the society. The gambler earns additional revenue other
then his regular employment. The revenue from the
gambling can be long lasting if the gambler plays in an
intelligent manner. Gambler can even improve its
gambling skills through gambling books, sites and
seeking the advice of an expert.
Negative consequences
of gambling
There are many indirect
cost of gambling to the society.
Gambling leads
to the increase in crime. The productivity of the
gambler reduces as he is always attracted towards
gambling. It can be concluded that the cost to the state
is more then the advantage of the gambling. The gamblers
do not understand the risk involved in the gambling and
they continue with the gambling process. If the number
of gamblers will increase then the society will
experience a down turn. Once the person gets involved in
gambling then he will tend to loose all money he has
earned till now and stand no where. Gambling is
responsible for creating tension in the family. The most
affected members are the children. They will try to
fulfill the responsibility as parent is not taking
responsibility. This will ruined their childhood and
future also. Family will feel shameful of the act of
gambler and stop taking part in the social activities.
This will further ruined their problem and no one will
come forward to help them. Gambling will reduce the
other enjoyment activities in the society which will
lead the society towards a down turn. If the gambling is
legalized then the fear of government is not there, it
will enhance the gambling process in the society.
Internet has increased gambling in the society which
will further have bad effect on the society.
