Are Casino Payouts Important?
In a word, Yes! However you must
understand how they are derived and how to properly use
them to evaluate a casino.
How are Casino Payout Percentages Calculated?
Casino Payout Percentages mathematically are:
Total Payouts in a month divided by the Total Wagered during
the same month
or
Total Monthly Payouts/Total Monthly Wagered Bets=Casino Payout %
For example, for the month of June a casino paid out
$9,800,000 on bets of $10,000,000, then the payout
percentage for June would be 98% or $9.8 million divided
by $10 million.
So I should only play at casinos with the highest
payout %?
Not necessarily for the following reasons.
-
If a casino has a very small player base, then the
payout percentages will vary wildly from month-to-month.
-
If
a huge progressive jackpot was paid out during the month
then this would skew the payout percentage higher.
-
There can also be a huge deviation in the payout
percentage for slots and poker. For example, the payout
percentage for slots could be low, say 80% while the
payout percentage for poker could be high, say 102% and
mathematically the overall payout percentage could work
out to a respectable 97%.
Online Casinos, like land based casinos, make most of their
money on slots (pure chance), while making less money (or
even losing) on games involving skill like poker and
blackjack. Remember, the payout percentage listed is always
at least one month behind and past percentages are not
indicative of future payout percentages.
What else should I know?
Most
of the casinos whose payout percentage that I list, are
audited by an accounting firm like PricewaterhouseCoopers.
What is your recommendation for selecting a casino?
Start by reviewing my Casino
Payout page which lists casinos by overall payout
percentage as well payouts by Slots, Poker and Table games.
I update this page each and every month so you always have
the latest published payout results. Then:
-
Select a casino with an overall payout percentage of at
least 95% or higher.
-
Select a casino with fairly consistent percentages from
month-to-month.
-
Depending on the type of game you are playing, select a casino
with higher payouts in that category. For example, if you play
slots, select a casino with higher than average slot payouts,
etc.
Remember,
any of the casinos that I have listed are operated by management
teams that I can trust and so can you.
