On Friday, March 30, 2007, all eyes in the poker world will face east
towards the Mecca of all casinos, Foxwoods. The largest casino around,
Foxwoods boasts six casinos, 7,000 slot machines, and one of the biggest and
best venues for poker anywhere in the world. PocketFivesLive.com Tournament
Reporter Court Harrington will be on hand to cover all the action from the
World Poker Tour's Foxwoods Poker Classic. You can either wait to see your
favorite live and online poker stars until August 1st when the tournament
airs on The Travel Channel or follow poker's best and brightest on
PocketFivesLive.com. Last year's Foxwoods Poker Classic was won by poker pro
Victor Ramdin, who defeated Alex Jacob heads up for $1.3 million. Jacob
walked away with over a half million. Others at the final table included
Edward Jordan, Larry Klur, John Russell, and Bruce Kater. "Foxwoods is a
great tournament," says Harrington. "The casino has a large poker room and
is known for running satellites year round. Jon "pokertrip" Friedberg and
Devin "TranquilChaos" Porter are among many tournament regulars that will be
playing at Foxwoods, but the many satellites to the $10,000 buy in event
that the Casino runs year round will also be giving many players that are
not regulars at the major tournaments an opportunity to play in a WPT
event." In the World Poker Open, PocketFiver Mike "swiper_fox" Perry made a
final table run and finished sixth for over $200,000. Pete "TheBeat"
Giordano and Friedberg cashed in the event as well. One PocketFiver who has
dominated the halls of Foxwoods is Giordano, who, in the World Poker Open,
cashed for his fourth consecutive time in a WPT event at the casino.
Harrington comments on Giordano's run at Foxwoods: "Pete "TheBeat" Giordano
has an impressive run of in the money finishes at Foxwoods going back four
years and is expected to be a major contender again this year." Giordano
received a large amount of television time on ESPN for his play against The
Simpsons star Hank Azaria, whom he busted from the 2006 Main Event. Joe
Sebok, who just appeared on the PocketFives.com Podcast one week after his
father, Barry Greenstein, appeared on the show, will also be at the event at
Foxwoods. Harrington's views on Sebok's WPT success: "He has been on a tear
lately, building massive chip stacks and going deep in tournaments. After
being the chip leader at the L.A. Poker Classic and losing a huge pot to
eventual second place finisher JC Tran, Sebok came back with a seventh place
finish in the Bay101 Shooting Stars event in San Jose. Sebok has been one of
the hottest tournament players over the last year, and he continues to put
up impressive results"
