Police shut down an illegal poker club, arrested three people and issued
summons for 60 more. The club in a northeast Indianapolis building that also
houses legitimate businesses operated seven days a week, Indianapolis police
said. Police arrested three men - one of whom had a firearm in his boot -
and issued summons arrests to 60 other people for illegal gambling following
the raid at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Players, both men and women, ranged from 18
to 70 years old, and live in Marion, Hancock, Morgan, and Hamilton counties,
police said. Police seized about $6,000 in cash, as well as poker chips,
computers, televisions and other gambling paraphernalia. Gamblers were
required to pay a membership fee, as well as pay to join a game, police
said. Police had been investigating the gambling club for about a year.
