Another security guard was injured when three men staged an armed robbery at
a poker arcade in Chalan Kanoa Tuesday morning. Department of Public Safety
spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said yesterday that Fam Li, 46, a security guard,
suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. Ogumoro said Song Jin
Li, 35, a cashier, was not injured. The suspects fled on foot and managed to
run off with $5,567 in cash from Smile Poker, said Ogumoro, citing a police
report. DPS received the report about the robbery Tuesday at 5:31am.
Preliminary investigation report stated that three unidentified male persons
armed with a knife and a baseball bat entered Smile Poker. A struggle ensued
between two suspects and security guard Li, during which the latter was
struck on the head with the baseball bat. The third suspect kicked open the
cashier's booth where cashier Li was inside. The cashier was forced to open
the cash register. The third suspect then grabbed the cash drawer containing
the money. The three suspects fled on foot. "Anyone having information about
this robbery, please call the NMI Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272. A
reward of up to $1,000 cash will be given for any information leading to an
arrest," Ogumoro said. This incident is just the latest in a string of armed
robberies involving poker arcades in the last five days. Last Thursday, a
security guard and a male customer were injured when three masked men robbed
the Crown Poker Gameroom, which is located across the U.S. Post Office in
Chalan Kanoa. The security guard, MD Nasrul Hasan Bhuiyan, 36, sustained
laceration on the head and swelling on the forearm. The customer, Wenjie Yu
Chin, male, 53, suffered abrasions on the right side of the neck. The
suspects ran off with $1,058 in cash. The three were described as wearing
dark-colored clothing and masks. Two suspects were armed with black baseball
bats, while the third was armed with a Taser and a knife. Bhuiyan was struck
with the baseball bat on the forearm and on the head. Chin, who was playing
poker with one of the machines, was assaulted with the Taser. On Monday, a
