The newly formed, non-profit organization Combined Off-Road Riders of Kauai
announced its kick-off membership drive poker run at Moloa'a. The event will
be held on Sunday, April 1, and run on private land in the Moloa'a Hills.
There will be separate divisions (A, B and C levels) offered for keiki and
adult dirt bike, 4-wheeler (ATVs) and mountain bicycle riders. "We are going
to be allowed to use one of the most-beautiful areas of our island for one
day only, so don't miss this fantastic opportunity," CORK president Danny
Lepley said in a release. "This was only possible by continuing cooperation
between CORK and Hawaiian Homelands Land Development, making this event
available to our riders and 'ohana, as well as helping us fulfill the
mission of CORK." CORK was formed for the purpose of combining all off-road
riders into a united strength, seeking to obtain legal riding areas on
Kaua'i.
The run will be open members only. Membership is $30 per year for adults,
$10 for keiki 16 years old and younger and non-riders. This membership will
apply to all future 2007 poker runs. The cost of the race will be $10 for
adults 16 years old and older and $5 for keiki. Early sign-up forms will be
available prior to the Poker Run at Cycle City/Two Wheels, Suzuki Kauai,
North Shore Motorcycles, S&S Speed Shop and the Computer Hospital.
Registration/insurance waivers must be signed prior to participation. Gates
will open at 7:30 a.m., with the mandatory riders meeting at 9:45 a.m. The
run will begin promptly at 10 a.m. There will be one gas check. Hospitality
and refreshments will be available to all participants following the Poker
Run.
