Poker players are gearing up for the Wynn Poker Classic, as the Las Vegas
casino resort kicks off its first annual poker tournament on Wednesday,
February 21, continuing through March 11. Deborah Giardina is the director
of poker operations. Tournament director Dave Egiseder will lead the events.
Buy-ins range from $500 to $10,000 for limit and no-limit hold'em
tournaments, with a $1,000 no-limit Omaha eight-or-better event and a $1,000
mixed (hold'em, Omaha, stud) event. Qualifiers start on Wednesday, Feb. 21
and will run through March 7, with the main event supersatellite. "We're
excited about the Wynn Classic," said Egiseder. "Hotel executives and staff
have gone all out to make this a first-class experience for players." The
pit area of the casino, situated only a few steps from the poker room, will
be cleared of the usual slot machines and tables games, and then transformed
into a 25-poker table tournament arena. The ideal location allows players to
easily monitor game lists and enjoy live action, as well as tournaments.
Surrounding the tournament arena are several amenities, including restrooms,
a lounge area, the Signature Coffee Shop, The Corsa Cucina and Bar, Wynn's
race and sports book, Zoota Crackers Deli, and The Drug Store, which offers
toiletries, sundries, candy, and other necessities. Parking is also
convenient. The Wynn guest garage entrance is accessible from the Strip, and
the second floor casino entrance is located only a few feet from the poker
room and tournament arena.
