Young gamblers are flocking to poker tables and gambling Web sites in a gambling revolution that has more than a quarter of young Ontarians playing poker for money and 4 per cent of them believing they could turn pro. Where poker was once the realm of casinos or basement card tables, rising numbers of younger players are logging on to gambling Web sites. A poll of 1,000 Ontarians conducted by Ipsos-Reid for the Responsible Gambling Council found 24 per cent of people aged 18-34 play poker at least once a week. Not only does 16 per cent of that age group believe poker is a good way to earn extra money, but 4 per cent believe they could earn a living from the game. "People who see this as a way to make money often have incorrect views of how skilled they are," says Responsible Gambling Council chief executive Jon Kelly.
