Progressive Gaming International Corporation (PGIC) announced that it will
introduce a new way to play Texas Hold'em poker in live casinos. The Las
Vegas-based company said that their new service will allow you to play poker
away from poker tables on wired or handheld wireless devices- even in a
casino's restaurants, bars, or poolside. Their unique service uses the World
Series of Poker "Peer to Peer" Texas hold'em game, and can be played within
any casinos that have the legal jurisdiction to offer this type of service.
Harrah's Licensing Company, LLC, an affiliate of Harrah's Entertainment,
Inc. licensed the World Series of Poker brand to PGIC on a limited exclusive
basis for six years. Upon receiving Gaming Laboratories International
("GLI") approval, PGIC has committed to place a minimum number of units into
casinos. According to Harrah's senior vice president of gaming Ken Weil,
this product is a perfect fit for casinos around the globe, even if they
don't have a poker room. Last week's press release quoted him saying, "We
are please to partner again with PGIC in leveraging the most powerful brand
in poker worldwide, the World Series of Poker. The World Series of Poker
"Peer to Peer" Texas hold'em gaming system provides operators with the
ability to offer their patrons to participate in exciting Texas hold'em
poker game competitions that capture the excitement of an authentic WSOP
experience." Russ McMeekin, President and CEO of PGIC said, "We are very
excited about the further expansion of our partnership with Harrah's. With
the popular TV ratings of the World Series of Poker events and early
customer interest in the "Peer to Peer" version, we expect another
successful product launch." McMeekin added, that he believes that both the
wired and/or wireless "Peer to Peer" versions, "have a potential global
marketplace of over 5,000 legalized gaming venues." McMeekin said of their
plans, "We expect to submit this system to GLI during the fourth quarter of
2006 and comply with other standard regulatory approval processes. We expect
to submit this system to other jurisdictions such as Nevada, New Jersey,
Canada and other International markets throughout 2006-07." You can see this
new product for yourself when PGIC showcase it at the upcoming global gaming
show taking place in November in Las Vegas.
