Piedmont Breast Center and Tilley Harley-Davidson, with the support of the Salisbury Harley Owners Group (HOG), will kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the Fourth Annual Poker Run For Breast Cancer Awareness. They hope to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The Saturday event will start at Tilley Harley-Davidson of Salisbury. Registration begins at 9 a.m. A pancake breakfast will be served for a small fee. Players may buy a poker hand for $15 or two hands for $25. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Participants will visit five sites in Salisbury and surrounding areas, where they will draw a playing card in an effort to produce the best poker hand. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best, second best and worst hands. All participants will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize and will have a chance to win door prizes. According to statistics, 212,920 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States in 2006. Approximately 40, 970 women will die.
